Reporting to the President of Curaleaf Maryland, the Controller will be primarily responsible for driving the state close calendar, reviewing reconciliations for consistency and accuracy and working to implement standard processes and policies across all the state, budget and forecasts preparation. Must be extremely hands-on self-starter who is able to work independently. The position is based in Frederick, MD. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Ownership of the Maryland close calendar 
  • Manage all accounting operations for the business 
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statement 
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls 
  • Oversee inventory stocking levels that balance having an uninterrupted supply to support sales while minimizing inventory carrying costs 
  • Responsible for analytics at month-end and quarter-end (P&L and balance sheet flux analysis, operating segment flux analysis, currency and CTA reasonableness/monitoring) 
  • Responsible for driving consistency and transparency in internal financial reporting amongst all legal entities 
  • Working closely with local finance/accounting teams to educate, implement and ensure compliance with global process and policies 
  • Ad-hoc technical accounting research of US GAAP-related issues 
  • Other duties as required 

 Experience: 

  • BS in Finance or Accounting, CPA preferred 
  • 7-10 year’s work experience  
  • Manufacturing background preferred
  • Experience in public accounting firm or at a global multi-national public company in a similar role 
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP 
  • Knowledge of/ experience with global ERP and consolidation software systems (Oracle/Management Reporting)
